The Third Teacher 1&2

In this section of the text, the physical needs and requirements for a successful classroom are highlighted clearly and there are many tips and suggestions for future teachers. I have never thought too much about the basic needs of a classroom. I have been aware of the basic needs of students, such as making sure they are getting enough food and receive proper clothing and shelter, but the first chapter talks about the basic needs within the classroom as well. Clean air and natural light make a huge difference to the daily education of students and small changes can make a big impact. Have a clean environment can also make your students feel safe and welcomed, which should be a goal for every educator. There was also a lot of information regarding the physical design of a classroom. Many older school buildings were built in a time where a teacher stood in the front of the classroom and every student faced forward. Now teachers are encouraging their students to work collaboratively and in new ways compared to the lecture style. There are now many ways teach students but in order for teachers to execute new styles correctly, the design of the classroom needs to be changed. This may not always be possible in every instance, but once again, small changes can make a big impact.
