Massive Change and Adapting Design Thinking to Teaching
After watching the video for this week, "Massive Change and Adapting Design Thinking to Teaching," I realized there is a lot of information regarding educational design. The head speaker, Bruce Mau, introduced 24 different building blocks to design and how we can apply these to education. One topic that stood out to me was the "Work on What you Love" section because I think being passionate about what you are designing for your students is a key part of being a successful teacher. Another part of the video that I felt was important was the Freeman Learning Cycle. This cycle consists of four steps: Opportunity, Formulate, Build, and Debrief. This cycle works in a never-ending fashion so that you are always improving upon your process. I think this could apply to a lot of different fields, but especially education. There is always room for improvement when it comes to designing a classroom and everything that goes on within it. It is important to debrief after executing an idea in order to create more opportunities for success.
